An Interesting Article

This is a mail forward which I got recently. I have no opinion about it. Just thought of sharing it, that is it.

**********************************************

Some, rather most organizations reject his CV today because he has changed jobs frequently (10 in 14 years). My friend, the ‘job hopper’ (referred here as Mr. JH), does not mind it…. well he does not need to mind it at all. Having worked full-time with 10 employer companies in just 14 years gives Mr. JH the relaxing edge that most of the ‘company loyal’ employees are struggling for today. Today, Mr. JH too is laid off like some other 14-15 year experienced guys – the difference being the latter have just worked in 2-3 organizations in the same number of years. Here are the excerpts of an interview with Mr. JH:

Q: Why have you changed 10 jobs in 14 years?
A: To get financially sound and stable before getting laid off the second time. Continue reading

Needs Vs Wants

I read an article about the needs and wants. It was an interesting article. The author explains the difference between a need and a want. This is what I understood. A need is something that you can’t live without say Food and a want is something that you can afford but that is not necessary say eating at a very posh restaurant. Continue reading

Salary Freeze

I was wondering why the employer has to hike his employee’s salary on a regular basis. Why can’t he just be paid the same amount all his life? Will that be such a big issue? Why does an employee need a salary hike year after year? If the employee is not paid any hike this year what would happen to him? I guess it is the economy that plays a dominant role in the salary hikes rather than the performance of an employee.

Salary hikes are given to the employees so that he has got enough spending power and he goes on spending money and thereby boosting the economy. A economy is said to be good only when people spend lavishly and the prices of the goods are in common man’s reach. It shows the sign of prosperity. Most of the companies today are laying off their employees as a measure of cost cutting. Continue reading

Satyam Employee's Mail

It was a mail sent to me by my friend. Thought of sharing it.

*****

Its written by a Satyam employee:

At a time when almost 90% of my Satyam friends are cribbing about the fraud and betrayal by Ramalinga Raju, I have a slightly different opinion. It’s bold of me to write this in black and white but this comes straight from my heart and experience.

Let me start by quoting an example of 2006. Most of my friends were unemployed with 50-60% plus marks in BTech, with a degree from an average University and hunting madly for a job. Whether people accept it today or not but the truth remains that Satyam was the ONLY saviour and the only mass recruiter who was ready to accept students who had back logs but had cleared them and also it did not put a very strict minimum marks criterion. And this was true not only for my small college at Lucknow but also those across India . Satyam is the fourth largest in IT in India. Looking at India’s population I really want to thank Raju for giving some 54000 Indians jobs atleast for all these years . He was the reason for the revival of confidence and the reason for the bread and butter for many a families. Continue reading

Working for Money

In my previous post I had mentioned about not working for money. In this post I just want to bring out a view about what would happen if we work for money. These thoughts are based primarily on Satyam and its employees.

When life pushes you hard, you learn new lessons. After learning lessons, it is better to be equipped for the future than regret about it. History teaches you lessons but the people are interested in dates and events that happened rather than the lessons. When Lehman brothers went bankrupt, I did not care so much for its employees or for that matter anything. When it came to Satyam, my heart bled seeing the state of the employees. It just shows that I am so much concerned about my fellow Indians. Continue reading
