A Wednesday

I saw this movie yesterday along with my pal. It was really very good movie. I liked it a lot. I just wanted to share with you some of the details of the movie. I was really very happy seeing it. The movie just hits hard on your head and it is amazing piece. I think this movie should make it to OSCAR next year from India. I would love to vote for it.

The movie has two stalwarts namely Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher. The theme of the movie is terrorism and aam aadmi (common man). The story is told in a gripping fashion. I love the way director has narrated the story. This movie actually makes you think. The dialogues are pretty good and the other actors have done their part really well. The cast and crew are perfect as far as I know. There are minor flaws here and there but that should not bother anyone. I think that many won’t even notice such minor details.

The movie starts with Shah getting into one of the high rises in Mumbai and at the last floor he has a perfect setup for his mission. Before starting his mission he just visits the Mumbai police station to file a complaint regarding his lost wallet. Then story unfolds. When I was watching the movie not for a moment I guessed the story correctly, usually I somehow guess and my guesses would be right but this was an exception. It was way too good. I love both Anumpam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah’s acting. Shah just looks brilliant and Kher looks extraordinary. Shah looks like a terrorist kingpin and Kher is Mumbai’s Police Commissioner. The chase begins. Shah claims that he has planted bombs around the city and calls the commissioner to provide him all the support he needs if he wants to know where the bombs are and he gives the police just 6 hours (I forgot the exact hours!! Sorry) to fulfill his demands. The best part is execution of the plan.

Shah asks the Commissioner to get the four famous terrorists who were responsible for bomb blasts at various locations to be provided to him and as usual the police heeds to the Shah’s demand and listens to him as per his order the four convicts are bought to a place where Shah wants and then the best part of the story happens. I never expected that and I am sure the guys who were watching with me would have felt the same. It was a pleasant surprise.

The dialogues that follow this incident is really very touching and it makes you think. Hardly there are movies which make you think and this one makes you think so much. It questions the survival of the common man and how we get used to things rather than stand up and fight against the injustice that happens to us. It is a wakeup call for the common man to think that he can do what he wants to do.

My verdict is: “Please go watch the movie, it is worth every penny you pay for it!”
