At times work can get boring. Doing the same stuff again and again can cause you to be absent minded and lethargic. This might not be intentional but it can happen. You try to become more productive and without your notice life becomes a series of to-do lists. I became addicted to this to-do list without my knowledge. My productivity has been gauged on how much I accomplish daily my list. This is not a good way to determine my productivity but that is how life has become.
Being addicted to to-do list has become the chore of work life. At times work is not something that I enjoy to do and rather becomes just a list to be over with and get back home. At times completing the list makes me happy but that does not satisfy my hunger for being productive. It is not a good sign moving forward.
Working like this just ensures that I have become a walking to-do list and nothing else. But work doesn’t have to be like that. The point of work shouldn’t be just to finish. The point of work should be the work itself. That’s the way it’s supposed to be anyway.
We spend a lot of time trying to find ways to be more productive. To do things faster, better, cheaper and spend our time more effectively. But instead of just doing more in less time, maybe we should focus on actually enjoying the work we’re doing instead.
Don’t force yourself at work when you don’t feel like working. When you force yourself, you will not give the best of you at work and this can be really very distracting at work. This can be very stressful and you will end up in doing nothing significant. When you don’t feel like work, don’t work.
Don’t keep thinking about working, just do it.
Find the reasons for you not enjoying the work and try eliminating them. Don’t assume things about yourself and fail at work. Question your beliefs and then decide carefully your strengths and weakness. Instead of working hard on your weakness, try concentrating your strengths.
Don’t just keep thinking about making everything perfect. There are things that can’t be perfect and let it be imperfect. Some ideas might not be that great and some really wonderful. Work on the wonderful ones and don’t crib about the not so great ideas.
Some ideas might not be so very great to others. Don’t give up. Believe in yourself. Work hard on it. It is worth chasing some good ideas rather than keep working on something that is not so very interesting for you.
It is very natural for us to drift away from what we are supposed to do. Concentrate hard to work. Focus on the things and give maximum attention and gradually start increasing the attention span. Make a conscious effort to do so. It can’t be achieved overnight. Just be patient with yourself and appreciate your efforts.
It is better to refuse some work that does not interest you.
